Light and Care Children's Ministry

Amis is a humble, active, healthy boy with a love for learning. After facing challenging living conditions with his uncle, Amis found refuge at Light and Care Children's Ministry. His uncle, a boda boda man, struggled to provide for the family, but Amis remains hopeful. One of his favorite activities is playing football with his friends. He says he loves to learn English and he dreams of becoming a doctor and making a difference in the world.

Leticia faced a heartbreaking loss when her beloved father passed away from malaria. Afterward, she lived with her mother, a hardworking peasant farmer who struggled to provide for their family. Despite these challenges, Leticia’s faith in the Lord grew stronger. Her life began to change when she was welcomed into the Light and Care family. Now, she’s thriving in school and working hard toward her dream of becoming a nurse.

Mariam is a bright, cheerful girl who easily makes friends. She comes from a humble background—her parents are peasant farmers who couldn’t afford to send her to school. Despite the hardships, Mariam remains full of life. She loves playing netball with her friends and creating dolls from banana fibers. She hopes to become a nurse one day so she can help care for the sick.

Mariam and her three siblings were abandoned by their father at a young age. Raised by their mother—a peasant farmer—they lived together in a small mud house, facing many challenges. She was then adopted by Light and Care, where she found the support and opportunity to grow. She is active, healthy, and full of energy. Mariam loves playing with dolls and spending time with her friends. Her favorite meal is rice and vegetables, and she especially enjoys learning English at school. With a generous spirit and a big heart, she dreams of becoming a teacher so she can one day educate children in her village who face similar hardships.

Kasubo has faced many hardships throughout her young life. After losing both of her parents to HIV, she was raised by her grandmother—a peasant farmer—in a small house alongside her three siblings. Despite her grandmother’s love and care, limited earnings made it difficult to meet even their basic needs. Through it all, Kasubo has remained creative and full of imagination. She loves spending time with her friends and exploring arts and crafts. Kasubo hopes to become a fashion designer, creating beautiful clothing for children.

Rashime lost both of her parents at a young age and wascared for by her grandmother, a peasant farmer who struggled to provide for her basic needs. She was then adopted by Light and Care. She loves spending time with her friends and enjoys singing. Rashime dreams of becoming a doctor—not only to help others but also to support her three younger siblings, who are still living in poverty. Rashime is driven by love for her family and a desire to create a brighter future.

Evans is a cheerful and bright young boy who lived with his grandmother, earning less than $2 a day—barely enough to meet his needs. His father passed away in a motorcycle accident, and his mother later died from HIV. After being adopted by Light and Care, Evans now has the support he needs to focus on school. He loves mathematics and dreams of becoming a successful engineer.

David was left in the care of his grandmother after his parents separated. Though she cared for him very much, her work as a peasant farmer made it difficult to provide for his needs. After being adopted by Light and Care, David now has the chance to thrive. He enjoys playing with toy cars and enjoys food—mealtime is one of his favorite parts of the day.

After losing both of her parents, Shaburah spent time living on the streets before being adopted by Light and Care. Now, with stability and support, she dreams of becoming a teacher and hopes to help her younger siblings out of poverty. In her free time, Shaburah enjoys reading and running in the compound with her friends.

Prossy's parents were self-employed but unable to afford her education. She was later adopted by Light and Care, where she now has the opportunity to learn and grow. Prossy dreams of becoming a teacher one day. In her free time, she enjoys reading on her own and playing round ball with her friends.

Patience is one of six siblings, all orphaned due to their parents' inability to provide a stable source of income. Through it all, she has held tightly to her strong faith in God and believes He will provide for her and her family. Patience is hopeful about the future and is grateful to be part of the Light and Care family.

Christine is a bright, energetic, and talkative young girl with a big imagination. She lived with her mother, who worked hard selling charcoal but struggled to make ends meet. Despite the challenges, Christine dreams of becoming a teacher one day. Her favorite subject is science, and she’s always curious to learn more about the world around her.

Floria is a healthy, loving, and friendly young girl. After her mother left and her father was unable to support them, Floria and her brother went to live with their grandmother, a peasant farmer who earns less than $2 a day. Unfortunately, she was also unable to care for them, and Floria is now an orphan living at Light and Care. Despite everything she’s faced, Floria finds joy in playing with the toys her father left behind. She dreams of becoming a nurse so she can care for sick children and help others in need.

Shamim arrived at Light and Care in search of safety after experiencing neglect from her parents. Despite her difficult past, she remains strong and determined. Her dream is to become a doctor so she can help others and create a brighter future for herself.

Rihanah has grown up in poverty, living with her three siblings and grandmother after the passing of their father. Life was difficult, but things began to change when she was adopted into the Light and Care family. Now, Rihanah dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. She finds strength in her faith and loves going to church, where her belief in God continues to inspire her.

Jaiden’s father left the family, and his mother did her best to provide for him and his three siblings by washing clothes for other people, earning just $1 a day. Despite her efforts, she wasn’t able to care for her children with such little income. Jaiden was then adopted by Light and Care. His dream is to become a pilot so he can travel the world and one day earn enough to care for the mother who always tried her best for him.

Timothy is an active and playful young boy with a joyful spirit. His father, a construction worker in their village, earned just $3 a day, which was not enough to support Timothy and his two brothers. After the passing of his mother, Timothy was adopted by Light and Care. There, he enjoys playing football with his friends. Timothy dreams of becoming a criminal lawyer in the future, with the goal of helping establish law and order in Uganda.

Melicia lived with her mother, who struggled to provide for her, so she was adopted by Light and Care. Melicia has a passion for learning, especially science, and dreams of becoming a nurse in the future. She enjoys playing with baby dolls, creating art, and attending church to strengthen her relationship with God.

As a young child, Rihanah was living alone on the streets until she was found and brought into the care of Light and Care. She has since flourished and is now one of the top students in her class. Rihanah enjoys playing netball and has a natural love for teaching, often helping the younger children in the home. Her dream is to become a teacher so she can inspire and guide others, just as she has been supported.

Sharon is a very active and friendly young girl. She comes from Butiki Village, where she lived with her grandmother and three brothers after her father passed away. Her mother, a housewife, earned less than $2 a day and was unable to care for her. Sharon was welcomed into the Light and Care family, where she continues to thrive. She dreams of becoming a nurse so she can help care for others in need.

Edith is a humble and kind young girl who loves to play and always follows the rules. After her parents were taken away by law enforcement, she was left in the care of her grandmother, who was unable to provide for her. Edith was later brought to Light and Care, where she has found stability and support. She has a deep love for her country and dreams of becoming a soldier so she can protect and serve the people of Uganda.

Toil is an active and polite young girl with a bright spirit. Her parents, a carpenter and a peasant farmer, struggled to provide for her and her eight siblings. Seeking a better future, Toil came to Light and Care, where she now has a chance at a better life. She enjoys playing jump rope and staying active. Her favorite subject is English, and she dreams of becoming a teacher one day.

John lived with his grandparents and five siblings in Butiki Village, where the family earned less than $3 a day and struggled to provide for him. He was later adopted by Light and Care, where he now has the opportunity to grow and learn. John is a clever but shy boy with a deep love for reading, especially native stories like Golden Stool. His dream is to graduate from a reputable university and build a brighter future for himself.
